News Section, Matrix Server, and the Death of the Yesterweb Webring
April 19, 2023
By staticfanfareOkay, there's a lot to talk about in this first issue CanaryNet News Bulletin.
First of all, the CanaryNet News Bulletin was born today. I figured it would be beneficial to have somewhere to talk about the site. I don't know if anyone is reading, but I'm going to publish these anyways because I feel like it. I can't promise regular updates, but I will let you know what is going on whenever something happens.
With that out of the way, onto the Matrix server. I have started a Matrix
homeserver here @ creating-worlds.net
for my friends and I to use. There will be public chatrooms that any of you can
pop into and say hi to us. You may also reach me specifically any time @
@staticfanfare:creating-worlds.net
. (Don't be afraid to, I'd love
to chat with you all!
UPDATE: The creating-worlds.net matrix server is being shut down. This Conduit
server has been replaced with a Synapse server at canary.city. You can now reach
me at @staticfanfare:canary.city
instead.
Unfortunately, the first CanaryNet News Bulletin is not all good news. The Yesterweb has shut down their webring due to its ever-increasing size. Apparently this happened last month and I only just now noticed, so it's not really news for anyone who has been paying more attention than I have. Worry not, my fellow explorers of the deepest pits of the World Wide Web, I may have something for you all soon enough ;>
